CMS Releases 2020 MIPS Performance Feedback and Final Scores

CMS recently released MIPS performance feedback and final scores for performance year 2020, along with associated MIPS payment adjustment information for payment year 2022. The performance threshold for the 2020 MIPS performance year was 45 points. That means MIPS eligible clinicians who scored 45 points or more will receive a neutral or positive payment adjustment, and those scoring less than 45 points will receive a negative payment adjustment in the 2022 MIPS payment year. MIPS Extreme and Uncontrollable Circumstances Flexibilities Extended for 2020

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services is automatically applying its extreme and uncontrollable circumstances policy to all MIPS eligible clinicians for the 2020 performance period. The agency also is reopening the MIPS EUC application for individual MIPS eligible clinicians, groups, virtual groups, and Alternative Payment Model Entities through March 31, 2021. READ MORE

2021 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule Final Rule: What Anesthesiologists Need to Know

Earlier this month, CMS published the final rule of the 2021 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule. After legislatively mandated adjustments, the 2021 conversion factor is $32.41, and the 2021 anesthesia conversion factor is $20.05, each down about 10 percent from 2020.
