Physicians and clinicians can now preview their 2019 Quality Payment Program (QPP) performance information before it will appear on the Medicare Care Compare website and in the Provider Data Catalog (PDC).
As part of the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ (CMS) phased approach to public reporting, CMS added a subset of the 2017 (Year 1) and 2018 (Year 2) Quality Payment Program performance information submitted under the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) and Alternative Payment Models (APMs) to Medicare Care Compare over the past two years. Medicare Care Compare, which encompasses the former Physician Compare, gives patients a single source search and compare experience for nursing homes, hospitals, physicians, and other providers in their area. The specific measures included on the website were chosen based on statistical and user testing.
Data from 2017 also has been added to the Provider Data Catalog, which makes it easier for researchers and organizations to search and download publicly reported data, and 2018 data will be added to the PDC later this year.
A larger subset of data from the 2019 Quality Payment Program performance period is expected to be added to Medicare Care Compare and PDC later in 2021 after all Targeted Reviews are completed. Providers can access a secured preview of their data that will be added by logging into the QPP website. The preview period ends March 25, 2021.
