Halpern Elected to Emergency Department Practice Management Association Board

ANDREA - Resized

CIPROMS, Inc., an Indianapolis-based medical billing company, recently announced that its Vice President of Client Relations, Andrea Halpern, was elected as a board member of the Emergency Department Practice Management Association (EDPMA), the national trade association representing Emergency Department Physician Groups, Billing and Coding Companies, and Supporting Organizations devoted to the provision of high quality care in the nation’s Emergency Departments.

As a board member, Halpern will help the EDPMA further its goals and mission to advocate for Emergency Department physician groups and their partners to enhance quality patient care through operational excellence and financial stability. Particularly, the EDPMA has been a strong voice for emergency physicians on the issues of balance billing, provider enrollment, quality programs, and other impacts of the Affordable Care Act on ED practice groups.

According to Elizabeth Mundinger, executive director of the EDPMA, Halpern will make a great addition to the EDPMA board. “Andrea has been an active part of our organization for several years now, and her commitment to advocating for her clients and all emergency physicians make her a great fit for our board,” Mundinger said.

Cheryl Louks, president and CEO of CIPROMS, said organizations like EDPMA play a critical role in helping physicians, billing companies, and other related organizations navigate the rapidly evolving healthcare industry. “We have seen a tremendous shift in uninsured patients moving into Medicaid and exchange plans over the past few years, but the industry still faces the challenge of ever-growing patient balances even among the insured,” Louks said. “Having a member of our team play a key role in EDPMA leadership positions us for success in these and other areas despite the many changes headed our way.”

Halpern has served at CIPROMS since 1990. As the vice president of client relations, she engages the organization with managing client relationships, revenue, and profit. She provides support to Account Executives working together to provide the best delivery of services to clients. Halpern also manages large clients in anesthesia and emergency medicine. She specializes in payer contract negotiations, accounts receivable management, practice management consulting, advocacy initiatives, and legislative monitoring.

EDPMA is one of the nation’s largest trade associations focused exclusively on the delivery of emergency medical professional services. Its members deliver (or directly support) health care for about half of the 130 million patient visits to U.S. emergency departments each year.
