On October 8, 2015, two Ambulatory Surgical Center (ASC) Quality Reporting(ASCQR) Program measures, ASC-6 (Safe Surgery Checklist Use) and ASC-7 (ASC Facility Volume Data on Selected ASC Surgical Procedures), will be released to the public via the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ (CMS’) Hospital Compare website.
CMS plans for the ASC-1 to 5 measure data for CYs 2013 and 2014 to be reported by facility on Hospital Compare in April 2016. The preview report for the April 2016 refresh is planned to be uploaded to each ASC’s Secure File Transfer AutoRoute Inbox in January 2016.
Recognizing concerns from the ASC community that some facilities encountered difficulties in reporting claims-based quality measures during initial implementation years, CMS has determined that ASC facilities can choose to suppress ASCQR Program measure information calculated using Quality Data Codes (QDCs), namely measures ASC-1 to 5, for calendar year 2013, 2014, or both years from publication on the Hospital Compare website. The deadline for making this request is November 16, 2015.
Facilities can request to have their data suppressed from publication on Hospital Compare by emailing the Support Contractor at ASCPublicReporting@hsag.com. A complete request will include:
- Facility name,
- CMS Certification Number (CCN),
- National Provider Identifier (NPI), and
- Indication of whether to suppress data for CY 2013, CY 2014, or both years.
The Quality Reporting Center is offering a webinar on October 28 to answer in-depth questions about Hospital Compare. Registration materials, along with further details about the program, will be posted on qualityreportingcenter.com.
